Promise Sibongile Imelda Khumalo was laid to rest, yesterday, at Avalon Cemetery, Soweto.
In a statement released by the Gauteng Provincial Government, President Cyril Ramaphosa had granted her a Special Official Provincial Funeral under Category 2.
She passed away on the 21st of November at the age of 63 at her home.
"My family and I extend our deepest gratitude to the Gauteng Provincial Government for honouring my mother, Sibongile Imelda Promise Khumalo, with a Special Official Provincial Funeral.
"A profound thank you to the Premier of Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi - and to the President of the Republic of South Africa for recognising her sacrifice, her service, and her remarkable contribution to our nation’s liberation," she said.

"To the South African Police Service and the ANC Umkhonto WeSizwe Military Wing – thank you for honouring her with dignity and reverence befitting a soldier and a daughter of the soil.
"Your support has given dignity, honour, and comfort to our family on this difficult day," said the bereaved broadcaster.
