Johannesburg - Self-proclaimed "Queen of Gqom" Bongekile "Babes Wodumo" Simelane continues to ensure that the memory of her late husband Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo is kept alive.

The late artist died nearly three years ago after suffering a stroke at the age of 40-years-old.

The young widow paid a visit to her late husband's final resting place carrying a heartfelt letter from her niece to the late father-of-one.

"Visited my [late] husband [today] but my niece gave me a letter and asked me to dig a small hole and bury it. She gave me the 'Don’t read my letter' lecture but I couldn’t hold myself, did I not burst into tears because of this letter," she said.

The letter addressed the late artist's role in playing a father-figure to the Gqom artist's niece in the absence of her biological father when he was alive.

"You became a father-figure in my life at a time when I really needed one. When my own dad didn't show up for me you stepped in without hesitation.

"Thank you for giving me the kind of fatherly love I always longed for. You changed my life in ways I will never forget and I will continue to make you proud with every step I take," it read.
