'Happy Birthday Queen B!' - Boity celebrates another year

Johannesburg - Media personality Boitumelo "Boity" Thulo is adding another year to her more than three decades of living her life like it's golden.

The TV personality —transitioned Hip-Hop rapper— is turning 36-years-old today.

She recently took to Instagram in a series of appealing photos surrounded by inflated balloons to wish herself a happy birthday.

"Happy Birthday Queen B," she said.

"Chapter 36, here we go," said the former Rockville actress.

The Instagram post to her more than six million followers garnered comments from fellow media personalities including Tshepi Vundla, Shekhinah, Liesel Laurie and her cousin Lesego "Thickleeyonce" Legobane.

According to Music In Africa, the actress was born on this day more than three decades ago in her hometown of Potcherstroom in the North West.

Boity's claim to fame was a Wimpy commercial in 2010.

"My 20's went by so fast....I am more spiritually aligned now...," she told Drum.

'Andonwabe!' - Anele Mdoda celebrates one-year wedding anniversary

Johannesburg - Seasoned 947 radio broadcaster Anele Mgudlwa née Mdoda has recently celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary to her doting husband Bonelela "Buzza James" Mgudlwa.

The Mgudlwas officially tied the knot, per IOL, last year in April.

The Anele and The Club breakfast radio host took to Instagram to pen her husband a heartfelt note for their very first anniversary.

"Andonwabe! (I'm so happy!)," she exclaimed.

"One year later my love.

 "Thank you for the safest yet wildest fire of love. God loves us if he keeps doing it like this with us. Aaaaaah Ngubengcuka (Clan names). My royal rebel," said the mother of one.

The photo carousel which showed her festive traditional wedding surrounded by close friends and family shows her father, Patilizwe "Pat" Mdoda who was dressed in Isixhosa regalia, actress Zikhona Sodlaka, Kaya FM on-air personality Sizwe Dlomo and her radio show colleague Frankie Du Toit can also be seen in the festivities.

Her husband followed suit with a touching message of his own to his lovely wife, showing a union that is rooted in Christian faith.

"Bless your name, Lord Jesus, for a beautiful year around the sun as Umkwenyana (...as a bridegroom).

"Your hand in mine is how I know God still writes the most beautiful love stories, and ours is full of everything; patience, kindness, grace, growth, gentleness, peace, anger, tears, forgiveness, laughter, joy, and most importantly, a love that chooses itself every day," said the attorney who is also an AbaThembu Royal prince.

The royal couple share a ten-year-old son together, Alakhe, from the broadcaster's previous relationship.

A glimpse into Khuli Chana and Lamiez Holworthy's top-tier Setswana wedding

Johannesburg - Metro FM's on-air personality Lamiez Holworthy and Hip Hop rapper Khulane "Khuli Chana" Morule exchanged vows over the weekend in an intimate top-tier traditionally-themed wedding in Mahikeng, North West.

Clad in a "regal" custom OM (Orapeleng Modutle) Couture Modern traditional wedding gown, the "Tswana bride" walked the aisle of their white interior wedding decor in true opulence.

She took to Instagram with snapshots of the intimate ceremony between their close family and friends with a Setswana praise phase as a caption.

Love at first sight?

The music DJ who is of Tsonga descent first met her Tswana husband per Glamour in 2018 before finally settling and paying off his lobola proceedings in 2019 — a few months after their whirlwind romance.

"I remember when you said to your family, I want to marry this woman, and they said, ‘What did she give to you?’ because it had only been months. My man paid lobola in 2019, just a few months after we started dating, and seven years later, we are still married," said the philanthropic music DJ.

The loved-up pair later welcomed their first child together in 2023, blending their family according to TimesLive with the rapper's 13-year-old daughter from his previous relationship.

The radio broadcaster shared how her husband still dotes on her and that he still treat her "like a queen".

"He still treats me like a queen, we have a family of our own, and that for me is how I know that God loves me," she said.

Johannesburg - American singer, songwriter and now first-time author Brandy Norwood's debut memoir Phases is officially the number one New York Times Bestseller.

The memoir was recently launched on the 31st of March 2026.

The recently inducted into Hollywood Walk of Fame star took to Instagram to thank "everyone who picked up a copy".

'A New Freedom!' - Nomsa Mazwai Launches Sober Fest — A Celebration of Freedom, Wellness, and Family on Freedom Day

Johannesburg - Celebrated artist, composer and poet Nomsa "Nomisupasta" Mazwai has launched a sober lifestyle event due to take place at Soweto Theatre on the Freedom Day weekend of Sunday the 26th of April 2026.

Sober Fest as described by its founder is "a sober lifestyle event focusing on music, food and wellness".

Headlining the event will be Thandiswa Mazwai, Maleh, Nomisupasta, DJ Kenzhero, commediene Khanyisa Bunu and other Soweto-born artists who are set to enthrall the audience.

Ntsiki Mazwai will be the MC of the day.

In its statement the event is curated around "substance-free living, community wellness, and conscious celebration" with available support offered on the day to those struggling to overcome addiction.

"Sober Fest is a place to access information about available support for addicts and their families alike in a hopeful environment," said founder Nomsa Mazwai.

"I am excited to be part of this new movement," said headliner Thandiswa Mazwai.

"South Africa has a serious problem with substance abuse and this is an opportunity for us to redefine socialising," said the music giant.

'Showbiz on airwaves!' - Scoop Makhathini and Moozlie Mabena joining Metro FM weekends

Johannesburg - Media personalities Nomuzi "Moozlie" Mabena and Siyabonga "Scoop Makhathini" Ngwekazi are set to co-host a brand new show on Metro FM's weekend evenings "bringing you fashion, music, entertainment and real street culture".

The duo will be co-hosting a lifestyle show on Fridays and Saturdays evenings starting on the 3rd of April 2026.

The commercial urban radio station announced the news on Instagram to much delight from the urban culture who admire the duo for their fashion sense, street savviness and youth-driven approach.

"We’re introducing a fresh new sound to your weekends," reads the statement.

"From Friday, 3 April 2026, Siyabonga ‘Scoop Makhathini’ Ngwekazi and Nomuzi ‘Moozlie’ Mabena take over with a brand new show bringing you fashion, music, entertainment and real street culture.

"Catch them every Friday from 19:00 to 22:00 and Saturday from 18:00 to 21:00," it reads.

An excited Moozlie took to Instagram to share the news to her 1.8 million followers.

"I’ve been coming to Metro FM for interviews my whole career but officially joining the family feels like an absolute dream. Definitely the dawn of a new era and I’m so excited," said the rapper.

Meanwhile, his co-host Scoop Makhathini who scooped the Best Fashion Icon Award as GQ Magazine's Best Dressed (2024) for his creative fashion sense only shared the radio station's logo on his Instagram story with a simple caption.

A flood of congratulatory comments came from fellow media personalities who seemed psyched by the duo's new up-coming show including Unathi Nkayi, Somizi, Minnie Dlamini, Shekhinah, Thando Thabethe and more.

"Showbiz on airwaves!" said DJ and podcaster Oscar Mbo.

The commercial radio station's business manager, Kina Nhlengethwa said that the station is excited to introduce a refreshed line-up that blends familiar faces with fresh talent.

'My Story is Here!' - Seasoned radio broadcaster Twasa has released her debut memoir

Johannesburg - Media personality Seipati "Twasa" Seoke is ready to tell her story on her own terms.

The Lesedi FM on-air personality has released her debut memoir In The Alley - The Radio Memoirs of Twasa, co-authored by author Ace Moloi who both of them hail from the same hometown of Qwa-Qwa in the Free State.

The book has been launched on the 1st of April 2026 and is currently available via courier services.

The former Jam Alley TV presenter took to Instagram to announce the news to much delight from her followers including fellow media personalities Relebogile Mabotja and Zizo Tshwete.
