Johannesburg - South African singer Tyla has dropped a new album called A*POP - which means African pop.

The pop singer dropped the highly anticipated album on the 24th of July 2026 featuring South African artists Mawhoo, Babalwa M and Liquideep.

"A*POP, African Pop. A*Pop is literally me trying to extend the idea of what an African artist looks like, what an African pop star sounds like. I think sometimes when you're from somewhere, you're expected to look or sound a way. I've seen things where they like 'Oh Tyla is not South African enough' and I'm like what is South African enough? she said to TimesLive.

Johannesburg - DJ and producer Professor, whose real name is Mkhonzeni Langa has officially stepped into marriage.

He and his partner exchanged vows on Sunday, 19th of July, during an intimate ceremony at his home in Ezingolweni, KwaZulu-Natal according to Zalebs.

People close to the Isikhwele hitmaker say the day was deliberately kept low-profile

The aim, they said, was to place tradition and privacy first, rather than turning the wedding into a public media moment.

“He didn’t want any celebrities because he wanted the day to be special for his wife and not make it a public affair,” a close source shared.

"My apologies, that's too private, but thank you, I'll let this pass, he said to TimesLive.

The full music video for the single debuted on the singer's YouTube channel Unathi.Africa on the 12th of June as a build up to the June 16th uprisings as it is set against the backdrop of Soweto.

"The video is my love letter to Soweto and an ode to South African couture. Most of the cast is from iBhoni Soweto Tours based at The Hector Peterson precinct who take tourists on a bicycle tour around South Africa’s largest township," she said.

Nkayi is the creative force behind the beautifully shot scenes of the music video and is also the executive producer.

"Being creative director and executive producer on this project [has] been exciting to say the least.

"Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Soweto Uprisings," said the singer.
