Johannesburg - The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has lodged a formal complaint to South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) against former Ukhozi FM personality, Ngizwe Mchunu.

This comes after the controversial traditionalist took to his Tik Tok social media platform to voice out his disapproval against a same-sex couple clad in a traditional IsiZulu and IsiXhosa attire, shared on X, their wedding day celebrations.

The fiery and bigotry-laced video has sparked outrage across the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies.

The political party together with other LGBTQIA+ organisations have taken a strong stance against Mchunu and his bigotry.

"The United Democratic Movement is outraged and disturbed by the appalling remarks made by Ngizwe Mchunu on his Tik Tok platform, Ngizwe Mchunu Online, where he launched into a hate-filled tirade targeting the LGBTQIA+ community.

"These remarks come at a time when South Africa and the global community are marking Pride Month; a period dedicated to celebrating inclusion, dignity and equality for LGBTQIA+ people. Instead of advancing unity, Mchunu's words attempt to drag us backwards into division and hate," said the party.

Mchunu who is clad in camouflage pants and a scarf symbolising the South African flag colours in his video shared his dislike for the queer community and dropped immeasurable expletives to describe his discontent.

"You guys are taking the power in our warrior attire and sleeping with each other. A man that sleeps with another man is an abomination.

"This is the root of societal troubles. That mgodoyi (dog) Somizi should take all his people and leave South Africa," he said.

The UDM has called on the SAHRC "to investigate Mr Mchunu's statements with the seriousness they demand".

"We also call on all South Africans, artists, leaders, traditional leaders, influencers and everyday citizens to stand up. Silence is complicity. Neutrality in the face of hate is siding with the oppressor.

"To the LGBTQIA+ community: You are seen. You are valued. You belong. Your existence is not up for debate. Your right to live free from fear is non-negotiable. And we, the United Democratic Movement, stand beside you without hesitation or condition," the political party ended its statement.
