Johannesburg - Former Miss SA Zozibini Tunzi has proven that she is a multi-dimensional force with her first major acting lead role as the villainous Naomi in the newly acclaimed Netflix series Bad Influencer.

The seven-episode-drama-series centers around a single mother (Jo-Anne Reyneke) who is living in survival mode when she decides to pair up with an influencer (Cindy Mahlangu) to sell counterfeit luxury bags in order to raise her young son who is living with special needs care.

The former Miss Universe plays the "bad influencer" Naomi.

Her acting skills have been lauded all across social media attracting commentary from both avid viewers and seasoned critics alike.

"Naomi Dlilanga...you've made some people upset my girl," she said on Instagram.

"I felt the same way too when I first read the sides for the audition, and I just knew that I really wanted to play her. What a pleasure being on this beautiful show. Thank you so much for the love," she said.

The series has dived into the world of influencer culture in South Africa and portrays the dynamics within the vain industry.

Executive producer Kudi Maradzika is the brains behind the project.

"The inspiration came from my brief experience as an influencer a few years ago. The development process took about 18 months and filming spanned roughly two to three months. From writing to production, the goal was to make something fresh," she said to Mail and Guardian.

The production features a stellar cast from heart-throb Thapelo Mokoena, seasoned actress Zikhona Sodlaka, Masasa Mbangeni, Relebogile Mabotja, Tina Jaxa and real-life influencer Zee Nxumalo amongst some of its impressive cast.

Bad Influencer premiered on Netflix on the 31st of October.
