Johannesburg - SABC 3s once popular travel and lifestyle TV show Top Billing is back.
The premium production is set to air on its former home in March next year (2026) with some of its previous presenters on lock.
The much-loved-up TV show's executive producer Basetsana Khumalo took to Instagram recently to officially break the news to much delight.
"Top Billing is coming back on screens," she said.
"Top Billing is part of the South African pop culture; it's a legacy brand, a show that many people grew up watching and over the last six years since we've been off air, there's been a huge request from audiences across the board.
"So SABC has heeded the call and has indeed finally recommissioned Top Billing to be back on screens in March," said Khumalo.
Khumalo shared her excitement and said that although the show will be taking on a new format to adapt with the current times it will still maintain its identity rooted in authenticity, excellence and style.
"It's a very exciting time and the reboot is really going to continue to telling our authentic South African stories of excellence; of luxury, of travel, of décor, of art, of culture, of architect and fabulous weddings.
"We're going to keep to some of the pillars of Top Billing but also evolve it, by bringing content that is authentic, that is current and that is rooted in South Africa," she said.
In a clip shared on its official Instagram account it shows its former male presenters Jonathan Boyton-Lee, Fezile Mkhize and Ryle De Morny announcing the Top Billing Reunion Special which is set to air on the 27th of November on the channel.
"Our new chapter has begun! In celebration of the return of Top Billing we have partnered with Corona Africa to bring you a Top Billing Reunion Special on Thursday 27 November at 7pm on SABC 3," said the page.
According to TV with Thinus the deluxe TV show plans to do a TikTok Top Billing Presenter Search to find new talent and will also be interacting and engaging with its viewers by adding a Top Billing shorts format as a second-screen experience.
The TV production was cancelled six years ago by the public broadcaster during a series of TV production cancellations to reduce its dwindling budget.
