Johannesburg - An emotional moment fully charged with mixed emotions of grief and triumph as seasoned actress Manaka Ranaka made her way through the red carpet aisle onto the stage at a recent graduation ceremony to receive her late daughter's post-humous qualification.
Ranaka's daughter, Katlego, passed away on the 24th of January, last year, due to natural causes at the tender age of 25-years-old per News24.
According to IOL, she was meant to finish her Diploma in Animal Production at the Ekurhuleni Agricultural College on the 31st of January.
Before Ranaka's appearance the MC of the ceremony urged the attendees to take a moment of silence.
A few minutes of silence later Ranaka appeared clad in graduation regalia carrying a burning white candle in honour of her late daughter. to receive her qualification amongst sobs from some of the graduates who knew their late fellow graduate.
She took to Instagram recently to reflect on the poignant moment.
"Mother of a graduate," she said.
"So proud of you my angel. You did well. A whole qualified animal farmer," said the seasoned actress.
The Generations: The Legacy actress has been open when it comes to dealing with her loss on social media platforms sharing how she is tackling grief after the fact.
"Today 25-years-ago is a day I will never forget. And you my dear 1st born child, I will never forget you," she said on Instagram.
