Johannesburg - It was an inclusive day filled with joy, laughter and of being seen at this year's recent 17th annual Feather Awards at The Venue in Melrose Arch.

The fun event was star-studded with the likes of veteran radio personality Shado Twala, seasoned actress Nthati Moshesh and acclaimed fashion designer David Tlale as part of the attendance list.

The aim of the awards is to celebrate and honour proud members of the LGBTQIA+ community and its supportive allies.

House of Zwide actress Khaya Dladla and sign language interpreter Andiswa P. Gebashe co-hosted the event alongside media personality Penny Lebyane and model Troy Malange on the pink carpet.

The event's co-founder Thami Dish took to Instagram recently to thank all those who honoured the invite and celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community under this year's theme "to learn how to pause, look and listen to our hearts".

"2025 - a year of so many lessons; one of them was to learn how to pause, look and listen to our hearts," he said.

"This year brought us closer to ourselves and to community. You've shown that family is found in chosen hearts, that healing is possible in community and that visibility is a form of revolution. Thank you to every soul and heartbeat that showed us love, respect and kindness in so many ways," said Thami.

He continued to thank the allies who continue to show up with "courage and compassion" towards the LGBTQIA+ community.

"Thank you for standing beside the LGBTQIA+ community with courage, compassion and conviction. Your allyship is more than support; it's solidarity in action," said the activist.

The 17th annual Feather Awards took place on the 6th of November.
