'What a dream!' - Unathi Nkayi honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in Radio

Johannesburg - Seasoned radio broadcaster Unathi Nkayi was recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in radio over the weekend, 30th of May, at the Icons of Africa Awards which took place at  the luxurious Sandton Hotel in Sandton.

The Icons of Africa awards is a prestigious Pan-African platform founded by Natasha Patience Mncube, dedicated to honouring leaders, innovators and creators who are making a lasting impact across the continent.

The seasoned veteran of radio broadcasting took to Instagram to share the achievement with her followers.

"What a dream," she said.

"Thank you Icons of Africa Awards for my Lifetime Achievement Award in radio. For as long as Africans continue being great I will tell our great stories," said the 93.8 FM afternoon drive host.

The former Kaya 959 on air personality was nominated alongside other African nationals who also received their accolades from the prestigious platform including seasoned actors, Leroy Gopal and Zikhona Sodlaka, together with football player Siphiwe Tshabalala to name just a few.

"Unathi Nkayi is not just a broadcaster — she is a pioneer, a mentor, a performer, and a cultural architect whose voice has shaped generations. We proudly honour Unathi Nkayi with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Radio, celebrating a legacy built on courage, excellence, and lasting influence across Africa’s media landscape," said the awarding body.
