Johannesburg - Award-winning author and publisher, Melinda Ferguson, has revealed the horrible reaction she once received on social media from the late slain Hip Hop rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes's staunch followers after she published the true-crime book, When Love Kills: The Tragic Tale of AKA and Anele.

Forbes was fatally shot alongside his friend Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane at Florida road in Durban in February 2023.

In a candid Facebook live the seasoned author detailed how the social media experience had negatively affected her self-esteem.

"After the AKA book...I had about 5000 trolls really attacking me.

"It was kind of like I was psychically raped during that time and I carried the hate with me, and it coloured the world that I experienced and after the AKA book I felt like people on social media really hated me, there was just this great wound in me that that book had created," she said.

The author is currently mourning the passing on of her life partner, Mathias De Fleuriot, who had been a huge part of her life in their ten-year-old companionship.

In the series of Facebook live posts she has been engaging with her followers detailing every process of grief after the fact and showing gratitude for the condolences as well as well-wishers.

"I'm going through the process...I am an Alchemist.

"So as much as this is devastating and breaking me, I do know that...out of this brokenness is coming something magnificent, my greatest wish is transformation," she said.
