Johannesburg - The iconic multi-award winning American artist Lauryn Hill who is affectionately called "Ms. Lauryn Hill" by her devoted fans across the world has thanked the South African audience for their warm hospitality.

The powerhouse artist recently visited the country to headline the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival in Johannesburg on the 20th and 21st of September at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

She recently took to Instagram to thank the "solidified new friendships", all the brands and event organisers who made her feel welcome during her visit.

In an honest heartfelt attempt to show her appreciation she took the time to include a few vernacular  phrases that she learned in her appreciation letter.

"Jozi, uxolo ngoku bambezeleka (Jo'burg, apologies for keeping you waiting)," she said.

"The South African people have always been a symbol of resistance, resilience, and inspiration for us. Ngiyabonga kakhulu! (Thank you so much!)

"My experience in Johannesburg was transformative and remarkable for many reasons; we made new connections and solidified new friendships, we got to spend time with legendary company, we made new African and African Diaspora–forward business associations - siyabonga kakhulu (We thank you so much)," she said.

She also acknowledged and recognised the South African art scene where she got to sell her own customised merchandise and also collaborated with two of the country's distinguished luxury designers; Thebe Magugu and Laduma Ngxokolo's Maxhosa Lifestyle.

"We had the opportunity to collaborate with and showcase the lovely designs of South Africa’s own Thebe Magugu and Maxhosa — yebo, kuyakhanya iMzansi! (Yes, it's lit in SA!). We recognize the beautiful art and music coming out of South Africa and consider it a blessing to be able to share our art with you!

"Ngiyabonga Jozi! Thank you for the warmth, the spirit, and the love.

"Love, light, and ubuntu forever," said the artist.
